Shannon Marta Paige

Shannon Paige is a native of Baltimore, MD who graduated from Towson Catholic High School as salutatorian. She is a 2009 graduate of Emory University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Sociology.

Shannon Paige is a 2009 Teach for America Corps member certified in Early Childhood Education. She currently teaches third grade and has had past experience with fifth grade. As a teacher, Ms. Paige has received the Educator of the Year–Carpe Diem award for making the most of each day and the Commitment to Excellence Award for immense dedication in the classroom and beyond. As a first year teacher, her fifth grade students earned the highest school-wide scores on the science portion of the state standardized test. In the fall of 2011, Ms. Paige will continue part time involvement with Teach for America and begin her pursuit of a Masters of Social Work degree.

Shannon Paige is committed to social justice. She has served in many volunteer roles dedicated to serving individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Ms. Paige has conducted numerous research studies focusing on minority retention rates, community involvement in schools, and collectivist culture viewpoints. Additionally, she is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc; a public service organization.

Ms. Paige currently resides in Atlanta, GA. She enjoys traveling, sports, reading and learning about other cultures.
